Eircom recently announced that they will begin charging €6 per month per email address on the 31st of March this year. We reviewed our customer accounts and found that many primary contacts that still use Eircom.net email addresses, so we thought we should explain that alternatives are available.

• If you already have a hosting account with us, email is very likely to be included, and is very simple to set up. Just log into your account, navigate to your hosting service, and you’ll find helpers right there in our customer portal for creating email addresses. Or log into our hosting control panel for more control over the addresses.

• If you don’t have a hosting account wish us, we have a budget email-only hosting package with 5 email accounts available for just €40 per year, nearly half of Eircom’s price for a single account. And if you have web hosting with another company, you can consolidate that with us for as little as €50/year with a single email account, or €80/year with 5.

• If you don’t have an account with us at all, please open one, we would be delighted to host your email at a much more reasonable rate!

We would recommend against closing your Eircom.net email address immediately, because you may cut off active customers and potential business, however if you notify your customers about your new email address(es) as soon as they’re set up with us, and make sure your website is up to date, you should be able to cut your costs significantly.
